Sędziszów is a large intermediate station, once located on a long stretch between Kielce and the Upper Silesian industrial district with no transfer stations. The station therefore included a large locomotive depot and a group of freight tracks. It was only in the 1930s that a branch line was built in the vicinity of Sędziszów in the direction of Kraków (in Tunel) and to the main line of the Central Railway (in Kozłów). The last major investment was the construction of the broad gauge metallurgical line and the Sędziszów LHS transhipment point in the 1970s.

Sędziszów station has two main track groups: one is at platform level and consists of 5 main tracks. Passenger traffic is served from two double-track platforms, with a total of three edges - the fourth was once used for LHS traffic. From this group it was possible to descend to the steam locomotive shed, which, in addition to the turntable, also had a track triangle. The steam locomotive shed still survives, but the tracks at this location have been removed. In addition, there are two loading ramps and a warehouse at platform level, and unloading tracks behind platform 1.

However, in front of the platforms on the Kiel side there is a second group, equipped with 6 extra main tracks. Between the groups there is also an unused shunting hill, while on the other side of the transit tracks there is a connection to Sędziszów LHS station. In this part of the station the PKP Energetyka siding branches off.

Train traffic in the station is controlled by signals 'Sd', 'Sd1', 'Sd2' and 'Sd3', which have centralised mechanical equipment with light signalling, while the signal 'Sd2' is not continuously manned. Some points are electrically operated. The control station also operates the points at the crossing [1].
