Sosnowiec Dańdówka
THE STATION IS CURRENTLY NOT OPERABLE.
Sosnowiec Dańdówka is a fairly large junction station, with a double-track freight line from Dąbrowa East to Muchowiec and a single-track line from Kazimierz to Sosnowiec South, through which passenger and freight traffic passes. A siding to the Arcellor Mittal plant (formerly Cedler Steelworks) also begins here, through which the CTL network can also be reached. Formerly, there were also sidings to the Sosnowiec, Niwka-Modrzejów KWK, but these mines have already been closed. The station originally had 10 main tracks, three of which were located by platforms: a single-edge one by the station building and a double-edge island one, which was, however, quite rarely used. Train traffic was handled by two signal boxes: SDn on the Stawiska side and SDn1 on the Kazimierz side. Originally, both had centralized mechanical equipment, but due to the collapse of the disposing signal box, the equipment on it was converted to key mechanical. This, of course, caused quite a lot of inconvenience to traffic. The station had a station building, but due to abandonment and devastation it was demolished in 2016. Since then, several measures have been carried out at the station to improve the infrastructure. The first was the renovation of the track of line 62, and as part of another task, tracks 1, 2, 3 were rebuilt. As part of the ongoing replacement of the catenary network, track 4 was eliminated. However, the biggest change was the replacement of the traffic control equipment with Modest-Gemini type computerized equipment, built in a new control room, located in place of the former station building.[1]
