Sosnowiec Główny

La estación de Sosnowiec Główny es una de las más importantes del Voivodato de Silesia, ubicada en el centro de la ciudad, en la calle Maja 3. Según la clasificación del PKP, la estación tiene la categoría Premium más alta. Fue establecida el 24 de agosto de 1859 por la fusión del Ferrocarril Varsovia-Viena y el Ferrocarril de la Alta Silesia como una estación fronteriza, que finalmente dio lugar a la ciudad de Sosnowiec.
Debido a su ubicación en una de las líneas ferroviarias más concurridas de Polonia, la estación de Sosnowiec Główny es un enclave importante en la comunicación ferroviaria local, por lo que aquí efectúan parada los trenes de pasajeros operados por Koleje Śląskie. Proporciona conexiones en el Voivodato de Silesia.
En 2021, cada día la estación prestó servicio aproximadamente a 2.700 pasajeros.

Tracks in the station

The main transport tracks are formed by the 1st and 2nd station tracks between which lies the island platform number 2. All trains arriving and departing from the neighbouring Katowice Zawodzie and Będzin stations arrive on these tracks. Tracks 1 and 2 are secured by a standard automatic block.
For the routing of trains in the Będzin <-> Sosnowiec Południowy section, the line track number 1P is used, which is controlled by a semi-automatic block defined by the departure and entry signals of the SG and SPł stations. It is therefore a single space section.

For the routing of trains in the Katowice Zawodzie <-> Sosnowiec Południowy section, branch track 2P is used, which is controlled by a semi-automatic block defined by the departure and entry signals of stations SG and SPł. It is therefore, as in the case of track 1P, a single space section. The Tesko Steel siding also enters the station.
