Lokomotywa na prawdziwych torach
EN57' (typ 5B+6B+5B, 5Bk+6Bk+5Bk, 5BT+6BT+5BT, 5Bm+6Bm+5Bm, 5Bu+6Bu+5Bu oraz 5Bg+6Bg+5Bg) - a normal gauge three-car low gauge electric multiple unit, produced at Pafawag's plant in Wroclaw in 1962-1993 in 1429 units. It is the longest produced rolling stock in the world. The prototype of the EN57 series was the high-performance unit EW55.
Based on the EN57 series, Pafawag has also designed four-car units with an additional engine section - EN71, four-car versions for long-distance transport (ED72 and ED73) and vehicles for suburban transport (EW58) and EW60 for the Tri-City Rapid Transit. The EW60 cars were sold after the end of their operation by PKP SKM and handed over to Koleje Mazowieckie, which subjected them to major repairs and modernisation. During the production process, structural changes were made, mainly concerning the braking and running gear elements of the vehicle. Units from 1900 onwards had a modified shape of the front wall and new equipment for the driver's cab, based on the EW58 series.
Over the years of operation, the EN57 series units have undergone various upgrades by different owners. Some of these have been limited to the external appearance of the units, while others have included changes to the driveline design and modifications to meet the needs of disabled passengers.
Since the 1980s, railway enthusiasts and railwaymen have referred to EN57 series locomotives as kibel. [1]
