Dříve, od konce druhé světové války a obnovení provozu na meziměstské trati, se zde nacházela otevřená stanice Warszawa Śródmieście, která sloužila především příměstské dopravě. Po vybudování druhého páru kolejí na příčné trati byla stanice přejmenována na Warszawa Centralna, s provizorní staniční budovou a dvěma dvoukrajovými nástupišti. Poloha nového nádraží byla změněna vzhledem k předchozím polohám hlavního nádraží - jak předválečného, tak "vídeňského", které se nacházelo východněji od nové Centrální. Západně od nádraží se zase nacházelo nádraží Kaliszské dráhy. |

Previously, since the end of World War II and the resumption of traffic on the cross-city line, an open-air station called Warszawa Śródmieście had been located here, serving primarily suburban traffic. After the construction of the second pair of tracks on the cross-city line, the station was renamed Warszawa Centralna, with a makeshift station building and two double-edge platforms. The location of the new station was changed relative to the previous locations of the main station - both the pre-war station and the "Vienna" station, located further east of the new Central. In turn, the Kalisz Railway station was located to the west of the station. |

Anteriormente, ya desde el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y tras la reanudación del tráfico por la línea que cruza la ciudad, aquí se ubicaba una estación construida al aire libre, entonces llamada Warszawa Śródmieście y que principalmente prestaba servicio al tráfico de cercanías. Después de la construcción del segundo par de vías en la línea que cruza la ciudad, la estación pasó a llamarse Warszawa Centralna, con un edificio de estación improvisado y andenes de doble borde. La ubicación de la nueva estación se cambió en relación con los anteriores emplazamientos de la principal, tanto en lo referente a la estación anterior a la guerra como a la estación de "Viena" (ubicada más al este de la nueva estación central).
