Locomotive in reality

The GE AC4400CW, sometimes referred to as the "AC44CW", is a 3,300 kW (4,400 hp) diesel-electric locomotive manufactured by GE Transportation Systems from 1993 to 2004. It is similar to the Dash 9-44CW, but has AC traction motors instead of DC motors and a separate inverter for each motor. In appearance, the AC4400CW is somewhat similar to GE's more powerful AC6000CW locomotive.

During the 11 years it was in production, GE produced 2,834 examples for North American railroads. In 2005, all Class I freight railroads except Norfolk Southern and Canadian National owned at least one AC4400CW locomotive. Norfolk Southern ordered very similar C40-9W cars. Due to stricter emissions requirements that went into effect in January of that year, GE no longer offers the AC4400CW and has replaced it with the ES44AC.1[1]
