Active vigilance (CA) is an electronic device that is part of the so-called train protection system (ABB). Its purpose is to ensure the safe running of trains and to increase railway safety. The purpose of the CA is to check the driver's alertness every 60 seconds if the speed of the driving vehicle is greater than 10% of the maximum line speed or Vmax of the train.
If the driver does not react in time to the light signal in the driver's cab, after 7 seconds the train's speed brake will be applied.
