Tato stanice má však mnohem větší význam - začíná zde druhý pár kolejí, který umožňuje volnější jízdu nákladních vlaků. Ten vede přes Łazy do Ząbkowic; v těchto stanicích se odpojují další důležité železniční tratě pro Slezsko a Zagłębie. V samotném Zawiercie je jednokolejná trať vedoucí do Siewierzu, na které byla v 70. letech 20. století pozastavena osobní doprava. V současné době se plánuje elektrifikace a modernizace trati, která umožní výstavbu železniční tratě na Pyrzowické letiště. Ve směru na Siewierz je také dvoukolejná odbočka, která umožňuje vjezd vlaků do stanice ze směru Łazy bez nutnosti změny směru v Zawiercie.

V roce 2009 byly přestavěny výhybky, které umožňují vjezd na tuto trať rychlostí až 100 km/h. Tehdy byly zhotoveny nové výhybky 20 a 21 a přestavěn přejezd, který se skládá z výhybek 61 a 63. Upraveno bylo také zabezpečovací zařízení tak, aby zobrazovalo příslušné signály. Mezi další změny patřila instalace balíz ETCS, která umožnila přenos informací o signálních indikacích do vozidla. Tyto balízy byly instalovány na výjezdových semaforech ve směru na Goru Włodowskou. Stanice má v současnosti osobní část, která se nachází v její severní části. Tvoří ji 4 osobní koleje se 3 nástupišti. Jednokolejné nástupiště vedle nádražní budovy a dvoukolejné nástupiště umožňují provoz na hlavních tratích směrem na Myszków a Psary. Poslední z nástupišť (č. 4) kdysi sloužilo vlakům směrem na Siewierz. Po obou stranách ostrovního nástupiště jsou odstavné koleje, které usnadňují ukončení regionálních vlaků.
