<!--T:2-->
Active vigilance (CA) is an electronic device that is part of the so-called train protection system (ABB). Its purpose is to ensure the safe running of trains and to increase railway safety. The purpose of the CA is to check the driver's alertness every 60 seconds if the speed of the driving vehicle is greater than 10% of the maximum line speed or Vmax of the train.
If the driver does not react in time to the light signal in the driver's cab, after 7 seconds the train's speed brake will be applied.

<!--T:4-->
Mirel
In Poland, this system works only in SHP mode.

<!--T:5-->
SHP (Samoczynne hamowanie pociągu)
SHP is split into two parts - Train and Track.
On a train locomotive or electric unit, the train part (track sensor) is located at the second wheelset except on EP/EU series locomotives, while EP/EU locomotives have this sensor located between the axles.

<!--T:6-->
Track part
The track part consists of resistors, called electromagnet, which is located at a distance of 200 to 150m in front of the signal or autoblock.

<!--T:7-->
Train part
The sensors of the train section are covered by a magnet which emits a radio pulse to activate the SHP control in the driver's cab (driver vigilance).

<!--T:8-->
Both track-side and train-side parts are tuned to 1000 Hz.
If the driver does not press the vigilance button, the emergency brake is activated.

<!--T:9-->
SIFA
This is a German security system, which is used in Poland instead of CA (Czuwak aktiwny). SIFA is used by Eurosprinter, Pendolino, Traxx and Vectron units/trains.
